Rocky Mountain Youth Training Academy is a registered Safe Sitter® Site. Our classes are organized, informative and most importantly, FUN! Our Safe Sitter® Students are trained on Safety Skills, Child Care Skills, Behavior Management,
First Aid & Rescue Skills, CPR and Life & Business Skills.
What makes Rocky Mountain Youth Training Academy unique is that we are fully mobile! We have the ability to send our instructors directly to your School, Scout Group, Youth Group, Sports Team or to your Neighborhood clubhouse.
Rocky Mountain Youth Training Academy uses the leading edge Safe Sitter® curriculum. Safe Sitter® teaches young teens (age 11-16) everything they need to know to be safe when they’re home alone, while watching siblings or while babysitting. Using social media appropriately while babysitting is covered in class and we practice different scenarios to help students feel empowered to speak up for themselves if they are ever in an uncomfortable situation. We like to cap our class size at 8 to encourage students to engage in class discussion, have practice time on the CPR manikins and diaper a “baby.”
Katie started babysitting at age 11 when she offered to watch a neighbors little boy while she went to the grocery store. Not realizing that she would be walking home with a surprise $5 in her pocket just for playing with a cute little boy, Katie quickly made flyers and knocked on the doors of neighbors who had children. Her love for kids and entrepreneurial spirit lead her to create a profitable little business as she babysit her way through Middle School, High School, College and even while pregnant with her first child.
Katie’s main goal for wanting to become a SafeSitter® Instructor was primarily for her 12 year old daughter (who is a Safe Sitter® Graduate). She found that similar classes were expensive and not very engaging. The games, graphics, real-life scenarios and support from the Safe Sitter® headquarters really makes a difference when teaching young teens. “My hope is that each student who graduates our class will feel empowered as they start earning their own money, will have fun and be engaging with children while using their creativity on the job, and will feel confident and effective as they use the skills learned at their Safe Sitter® class.”
My favorite thing about the class was getting a Student Manual so that I can look at or take with me to a babysitting job.
This class is so fun! I feel like I can be a good babysitter because of all the things we learned in class. I liked that we got to learn how to diaper a baby with dolls.
I think taking the Safe Sitter course is important because the parent of the child you are babysitting will feel safe and confident with you watching their child. You will also feel safe and confident because you are prepared
Practicing changing a diaper practice will help me when I babysit for younger kids. It was fun to learn since I had never changed a diaper before.
